Magnetic Resonance Im Spectral resolution enhancement by chemical shift imaging

چکیده
Three-dimensional chemical shift imaging (3D CSI) with appropriate data postprocessing can be used as a tool to improve spectral resolution in samples where large susceptibility differences and limited shim capabilities prevent good sample shimming. Data postprocessing is reduced to the realignment of individual 3D voxel spectra. As a result, the line broadening due to the field inhomogeneity over the sample’s volume is reduced to the broadening by inhomogeneity within individual voxels. We compared this method with the resolution enhancement by window multiplication. We demonstrated, theoretically and experimentally, that in the presence of large, lowerorder gradients, 3D CSI achieves better resolution enhancement with smaller sensitivity losses. An application of the method to a simple biological system is presented as well. D 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Region and volume dependencies in spectral linewidth assessed by H 2D chemical shift imaging in the monkey brain at 7T
High magnetic fields increase the sensitivity and spectral dispersion in magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). In contrast, spectral peaks are broadened in vivo at higher field strength due to stronger susceptibility-induced effects. Strategies to minimize the spectral linewidth are therefore of critical importance. In the present study, H 2D chemical shift imaging (CSI) at short echo times wa...
متن کاملEnhanced spectral resolution in immobilized peptides and proteins by combining chemical shift sum and difference spectroscopy.
A two-dimensional correlation experiment is introduced that records the sum and difference chemical shift of two scalar or dipolar coupled nuclei. Statistical results indicate that the suggested pulse scheme can significantly increase the possibility of separating chemical shift contributions due to residue type and backbone conformation in immobilized peptides and proteins. Experimental applic...
متن کاملNarrowing of protein NMR spectral lines broadened by chemical exchange.
Broadening of spectral lines is a signature of chemical exchange phenomena on microsecond to millisecond time scales but has deleterious effects on spectral resolution and sensitivity. A multipulse method based on chemical shift scaling that reduces chemical exchange broadening during frequency-encoding periods of liquid-state multidimensional NMR experiments is described. The proposed scheme u...

A high-resolution human in vivo spectroscopic image was obtained using the 2.0-T NMR imaging system developed at KAIS (Korea Advanced Institute of Science). The in vivo spectroscopic image obtained has high spatial resolution as well as spectral resolution good enough for extraction of the detailed spectroscopic information. This high-resolution spectroscopic imaging was made possible by use of...
